Sound and Pound

Our Mission Statement

The Sound and Pound Urban Art Ministry’s primary purpose is to engage all people with all of Jesus through Urban art.

Along with monthly First Friday events, we do a yearly concert series and urban art ministry conference in November. This years (2012) Concert/Conference is called "Sound and Pound Presents: The Street Apologist" Artist performing and quest speakers to be announced.

What does the name mean?

"Sound"

In relation to specifically music and poetry but in general all urban art, can touch many different people in various points of their lives. Art has the ability to draw people in and engage them in many different ways, sometimes positively and sometimes negatively. We have a Hip-Hop emphasis due to its unique rallying ability and proclamation aspects to engage the listener, but we seek to develop and utilize all aspects of urban art. The music we plan and art we display is designed to Glorify God and present the Gospel.

"Pound"

"Pounding the pavement" is a phrase commonly used in today's society to mean doing a lot of legwork in the streets to get your message across to others who don't know about what you have to offer. In this instance what we have to offer is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We combined these two words SOUND and POUND to portray what we are committed to do, to deliver Christ-centered music in the streets to those who have not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
